Fifth Y e a r For the Degree of Master of Science in the Education of Mentally Handicapped Children Students seeking a master's degree in the field of the education of mentally handicapped children must present the following prerequisites: 1. Courses sufficient to meet requirements for an Illinois Teacher's Certificate. 2. Specialized undergraduate courses:' a. Ed. 10a — Technic of Teaching in the Elementary School b. Ed. Prac. 3 4 — T h e Mentally Handicapped c. Speech 24 — Classroom Problems in Speech Correction Speech 18 (Pronunciation) is a prerequisite or can be taken concurrently with Speech 14a. * Educational Practice will be with normal elementary children and with mentally retarded8 elementary children. Electives will be selected with the consent of the adviser. A maximum of 36 hours in education will be allowed toward graduation. * Students who are not trained as elementary teachers may have other specialized undergraduate courses to take depending on their pattern of credits and teaching experience.
