T h i s report w a s received for record. PURCHASES AUTHORIZED (20) T h e following purchases were recommended by the Purchasing Agent and authorized by the Comptroller. Unless otherwise specified the purchases were made on the basis of lowest bids, ceiling prices, or because the items are noncompetitive. Emergency action was necessary to secure delivery in time to meet specific needs or because prices quoted were subject to immediate acceptance. 1. Twenty-nine U-7140 refectory tables, 3 9 x 1 2 0 , and 232 U-7142 chairs, for the Residence Halls, from the Universal Equipment Company, Batesville, Indiana, at a cost of $3,573.67. 2. One industrial tractor, snow plow with hand hydraulic lift, and snow broom, for the Physical Plant Department, from the General Tractor & Equipment Company, Chicago, at a cost of $1,39944. 3. Twenty-five tons linseed oil meal and five tons pea size linseed oil meal, for the Department of Animal Husbandry, from the Archer-Daniels-Midland Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota, at a cost of $1,548. 4. Canon ribbed towels, 400 dozen, # 3 9 8 , 20 x 40, name woven " U of I— P E 46," for the Department of Physical Education for Women, from the Carson, Pirie Scott and Company, Chicago, at a cost of $2,272. 5. One magnetic yoke for model betatron, for the Physics Department, from the Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Company, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at a cost of $5420. 6. Combination storage and wardrobe cabinets, 304, 24 x 36 x 78, for the Residence Halls, from the All-Steel-Equipment Company, Champaign, at a cost of $2,316.78, f.o.b. Aurora, and the Interior Steel Construction Company, Cleveland, Ohio, at a cost of $7,379 delivered and installed. 7. Fifty-four steers for the Wright F a r m s , for the Department of Agricultural Economics, from the Chicago Producers Commission Association, at a cost of $1,64241. 8. Ninety-seven cattle for the W r i g h t Farms, for the Department of Agricultural Economics, from the F o x Valley Joliet Production Credit Association, Geneva, at a cost of $3,304.37. 9. One Ford tractor, one 12" plow, one heavy duty mower, and one terracing blade, for the Horticulture Department, from the Smith Tractor Sales, Olney, at a cost of $1,439. 10. Double deck beds, 152, for the Residence Halls, from the Universal Equipment Company, Batesville, Indiana, at a cost of $6,481.28. 11. Excavation, gravel, and culvert at the Airport, by the General Paving Company, Champaign, at a cost of $1,876.25.
