Architecture. T h e conditions governing the award shall be determined by the Department of Architecture and the College of Fine and Applied Arts. This fund is in memory of the late Professor James M. White, who was a member of the faculty and Supervising Architect of the University for many years. 7. Mrs. R. G. Lindeborg, Class of 1939, $195 to be used in aiding a needy student in Art, the candidate to be recommended to the Committee on Special Undergraduate Scholarships by the Committee Administering the Bates Scholarships. 8. Mr. Martin L. Straus, President of Eversharp, Inc., $100 to the College of Medicine to be used in any way the Dean shall determine. 9. Mrs. Edward Dawson, Dixon, Illinois, $50 as a memorial to her son, Louis E d w a r d Dawson, to be added to the student loan funds of the University for use in aiding worthy students in Chemistry. 10. Lincoln Electric Company, Cleveland, Ohio, 300 ampere, direct current welder to the College of Engineering. 11. Mrs. Maud Davis, St. Joseph, Illinois, a collection of horns and antlers to the Museum of Natural History. Grants for Research 1. T h e Field Foundation, Inc., New York City, $23,000 in support of research and the teaching program in the field of allergy for a period of three years from November, 1944, at the College of Medicine. 2. Grants for research in allergy antigens (research program of Dr. B. Z. Rappaport, Assistant Professor of Medicine, College of Medicine, and Dr. William H . Welker, H e a d of the Department of Biological Chemistry, College of Medicine) from: Asthmatic Children's Aid, $5,000; the Sheldon-Claire Company, $200; S and V Liquor Company, $100; Miss Sara I. Sommer, $100; Morris L. Bork, $500; Leo A. Goldstein, $200; Samuel Rothberg, $200; M. Spertus of Spertus Processes, Inc., $100; N. S. Fredman and Edward F . Keefer, Jr., $50 each;—all in Chicago. 3. Mr. Philip S. Bloom of Chicago, $800 and $1,800 to be added to the $1,000 recently contributed by Mr. Bloom, for the establishment of a fellowship of $1,800 annually for two years, to be known as " T h e May and Philip S. Bloom Allergy Fellowship." 4. Mr. O. E. Geppert, $500 to be used for research at the discretion of Dr. Francis J. Gerty, H e a d of the Department of Psychiatry of the Illinois N e u r o psychiatric Institute. 5. Sharp & Dohme, Inc., $6,000 for "clinical evaluation of succinyl and phthalyl in infectious diseases of the colon" being conducted by Professor M. H . Streicher of the Department of Medicine, covering a period of two years from March I, 1044. 6. Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs, Chicago, $2,000 in support of cancer research under Dr. Danely P . Slaughter of the T u m o r Clinic at the College of Medicine. 7. Nutrition Research Laboratories, Chicago, $6,600, or $600 a month from August I, 1044, through June 30, 1045; $900, or $150 a month for six months beginning August I, 1044; $2,750, or $250 a month for eleven months beginning October 1, 1044; for continuation of studies of the physiological and therapeutic action of Ertron in certain scientific and clinical investigations on arthritis, by Dr. C. I. Reed of the Department of Physiology of the College of Medicine. 8. W a r Memorial Committee of the Drama Club of Evanston, Illinois, $500 to the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery for a fellowship under the direction of Professor F . A. Chandler, H e a d of the Department. 9. Allied Chemical and Dye Corporation, New York City, $2,000 for two fellowships of $1,000 each in chemistry for the academic year 1945-1946. 10. Abbott Laboratories, N o r t h Chicago, Illinois, $750 for the continued support of the fellowship in organic chemistry for the year 1044-1945. 11. Rockefeller Foundation, $10,000 for research work on the biochemistry of amino acids under the direction of Professor W . C. Rose, for one year beginning September 1, 1044. 12. American Meat Institute, $1,200 for a fellowship in the Department of Chemistry to investigate the effects of various treatments and reagents on the
