BOARD OF TRUSTEES

New York, in the preparation of plans for the General Hospital Addition in Chicago for which an appropriation is made in the General State Building Appropriation for 1045-1947. T h e services to be rendered by Doctor MacLean are of a specialized type and he is recommended as being the best person available for such consulting service. The amount to be paid is $2,000. I recommend approval. O n motion of M r . Davis, this arrangement w a s approved. RETIREMENT OF PROFESSOR F. W . D E W O L F (6) Professor F . W . DeWolf, Head of the Department of Geology, has requested that he be retired from active service effective September I, 1946, under the provision in the law creating the University Retirement System of Illinois which permits retirement "on or after the attainment of age sixty-five (65) in exceptional cases and for substantial cause at the request of the Employee and upon certification of t h e Employer." Professor DeWolf will be 65 years old on March 22, 1046, and at the end of the current academic year will have been in the service of the University for fifteen years. I recommend approval. O n m o t i o n of D r . M e y e r , this r e c o m m e n d a t i o n w a s a p p r o v e d . RETIREMENT OF PROFESSOR WILLIAM E. BURGE (7) D r . William E. Burge, Associate Professor of Physiology, has requested that he be retired from active service effective September 17, 1046, under the provision in the law creating the University Retirement System of Illinois which permits retirement "on or after t h e attainment of age sixty-five (65) in exceptional cases and for substantial cause at the request of the Employee and upon certification of t h e Employer." Professor Burge will be 65 years old on September 17, 1046, and at the end of the current academic year will have been in t h e service of the University for thirty-four years. I recommend approval. O n motion of M r . D a v i s , this request w a s g r a n t e d . AWARD O F CERTIFICATES O F CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT (8) T h e Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate of Certified Public Accountant be awarded t h e following who have made applications therefor under t h e Accountancy Act of 1943 and who have presented evidence to t h e Committee that they a r e properly qualified: Candidates holding unrevoked C.P.A. certificates issued by other states or territories of t h e United States (Section 5) :
