On motion of Mrs. Grigsby, the action of the President of the University in authorizing these projects was approved and confirmed.

LEASE W I T H M I D - C O N T I N E N T PETROLEUM CORPORATION (16) T h e Finance Committee presents the following report: On April 18, 1936 (Minutes, page 626), the Board approved, on recommendation of the Finance Committee, a lease with the Mid-Continent Petroleum Corporation for the property on the southwest corner of University Avenue and W r i g h t Street, Champaign, opposite the northwest entrance to the baseball field. T h e lease was for five years with option of two five-year extensions at a minimum annual rental of $420 and a maximum of $840, the company to make all improvements and pay all taxes thereon. F o r a number of years the University has been receiving the maximum rental each year. T h e first two periods of the lease and extension are passed, with an option of five years yet remaining. T h e company desires to make a new lease from June I, 1946, for five years with two additional five-year renewal options, which in effect extends the lease ten years beyond the present expiration. It has also agreed to increase the maximum rental to $1200 a year. T h e property in question was received as a gift of the Babcock Endowment Fund and belongs to that fund. T h e Comptroller has recommended this lease to the Finance Committee, and the Committee recommends its approval.
