BOARD OF TRUSTEES

E X E C U T I V E SESSION The Board, in executive session, as if in Committee of the Whole, spent the forenoon in an informal discussion of the items on the agenda for the April meeting, and took action on the following matters.

DRAINAGE O F T H E UNIVERSITY AIRPORT

Mr. McKelvey, for the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, presented a request from Miss Hazel Craig that the Board examine the legal aspects of the diversion of storm water from the University of Illinois Airport into the Okaw Drainage District, via the Two Mile Slough. On motion of Dr. Meyer, this matter was referred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds for consideration and with power to act (in conference with the Legal Counsel) as may be found necessary to protect the interests of the University.

MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT WILLARD

The Board considered the following matters presented by the President of the University.

AUTHORIZATION OF CONTRACT W I T H CHARLES T. DAVIS FOR ROYALTIES

(1) A recommendation that the duly authorized officers of the University enter into a contract with Mr. Charles T. Davis embodying the terms of the memorandum of agreement signed by Dean R. B. Allen, Legal Counsel William E. Britton, and Charles T. Davis, dated April 12, 1946, with respect to the latter's application for a patent filed August 17, 1045, Serial No. 611,255, for "Improvement in Synthetic Fiber." Professor Britton presented this matter. On motion of Mr. Nickell, this contract was authorized as recommended.

CONDEMNATION O F PROPERTY IN URBAN A

(2) A recommendation that the duly authorized officers of the University be directed to institute condemnation proceedings for the acquisition of the following described properties: 1201, 1203, 1205 West California Street Lots One (1) and Two (2) and the East Thirteen (13) feet of Lot Three (3) in Block Two (2) of Nina B. Bronson's Subdivision of a part of the East Half ( E H ) of the Southwest Quarter ( S W K ) of the Northeast Quarter ( N E ^ ) of Section Eighteen (18), Township Nineteen (19) North, Range Nine (9) East of the Third Principal Meridian, in the City of Urbana, in the County of Champaign, and the State of Illinois; and 606 South Mathews Avenue Lot Six (6) in Block Two (2) of Nina B. Bronson's Subdivision of part of the East One-half (EJ4) of the Southwest One-quarter (SWJ4) of the Northeast One-quarter (NEJ4) of Section Eighteen (18), Township Nineteen (19) North, Range Nine (9) East of the Third Principal Meridian in the City of Urbana, Champaign County, State of Illinois, in the event that such officers decide that said properties can not be bought at a price deemed reasonable by them. The Legal Counsel of the University is directed to prepare and file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees a formal Resolution in substitution for this Resolution, subject to the prior approval thereof by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, and upon such approval, the substituted Resolution shall stand as the action of the Board of Trustees.
