1940] UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS 7 REPORT OF DEATH BENEFITS PAID (12) A report that the Comptroller has been authorized to pay the death benefits to the beneficiaries of the following members of the staff, in accordance with the University Statutes and the terms of their employment: 1. Edward John Lake, Professor of Design, Emeritus—$1,007.50. Professor Lake was in the active service of the University from September 1, 1894, until he retired on September 1, 1938. H e died on July I, 1940. 2. E d w a r d Chauncey Baldwin, Professor of English, Emeritus—$985.00. Professor Baldwin was in the active service of the University from September 1, 1901, until his retirement, September 1, 1938. H e died July 9, 1940. H e also served as Secretary of the University Senate from 1933 until his death. This report w a s received for record.
