TABLET OF TRIBUTE TO PROFESSOR ARTHUR N E W E L L TALBOT (15) The American Railway Engineering Association will present to the University a tablet in recognition of the services in engineering education and research of Arthur Newell Talbot, Professor of Municipal and Sanitary Engineering, Emeritus, and particularly his research in the field of railway engineering. This tablet will be placed on the wall just outside of Professor Talbot's present office in 122 Talbot Laboratory, formerly known as the Materials Testing Laboratory. The presentation will take place at a Convocation on October 21.

AGREEMENT FOR COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATION (16) A recommendation that the following agreement be authorized with the Clay Products Industry Committee, for a cooperative investigation of reinforced brick masonry by the Engineering Experiment Station, the agreement to cover a period of one year beginning October I, 1941, with provision for extension upon mutual agreement. The Committee will pay the University $1,000 to cover the expenses of the investigation.

This matter was referred to the Committee on Patents for study and recommendation. 1

PURCHASE RECOMMENDED (17) A recommendation t h a t the purchase be authorized of 250 to 300 feeder lambs for the Department of Animal Husbandry at a cost of approximately $2,500; Professor W. G. Kammlade of the Department of Animal Husbandry to inspect and select suitable animals and arrange for their purchase.

On motion of Mr. Jensen, this purchase was authorized as recommended.

PURCHASES AUTHORIZED (18) A report of the following purchases authorized by the President of the University as emergencies in accordance with the University Statutes: 1. 120 reams, 23 x 36, 174 pound cream post card paper, for the Agricultural Experiment Station, from the J. W. Butler Paper Company, Chicago, the lowest bidder, a t a price of $7.70 a hundredweight, or a total cost of $1,607.76 f.o.b. Urbana. 2. 27,000 feet of fir lumber for the Physical Plant Department stock, from the Thompson Lumber Company, Champaign, the lowest bidder, at a price of $1,647 delivered to University storage shed.
