On motion of Mr. Jensen, these leaves were granted as recommended.

APPROPRIATION TO COLLEGE OF FINE AND APPLIED ARTS (7) A recommendation that an assignment of $300 be made from the General Reserve F u n d to the College of Fine and Applied Arts for the expenses of art exhibits at the University during the current academic year.

On motion of Mr. Geary, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mr. Davis, Mr. Jensen, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Pogue; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Mr. Karraker, Dr. Meyer, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Wieland.

EQUIPMENT FOR ILLINI UNION BUILDING (8) Because of lack of funds it was necessary to reduce the budget for furnishings and equipment in the Illini Union Building and to leave certain areas of the building itself unfinished. In the short time the building has been in use the demands on its facilities for service have shown that some of this equipment which was omitted should be provided as soon as possible. Additional needs a r e : Food service equipment $ 7 7S° Benches, chairs, and other furniture for second floor corridor 700 Folding chairs (400) 1 410 Checking equipment 750 Sound system 1 200 Furniture for South Terrace 2 000 Total Estimate $13 900 T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department requests that an advance of $13,900 be made from the General Reserve Fund for the purchase of the above equipment, with the understanding that this amount will be restored by the University of Illinois Foundation when it raises additional funds for furnishings and equipment. This is in addition to the $18,022 previously advanced by the Board for furnishings and equipment pending receipt of additional funds from the Foundation. T h e Comptroller of the University (who is also Treasurer of the Foundation) reports that in view of subscriptions received to date this first advance will probably be refunded in the near future. •Members of the Clinical Staff serving without salary.
