BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Submitted herewith is a report from the Physical Plant Department on tfiis project, including a schedule of the bids received, a copy of which is being filyj with the Secretary of the Board for record. I concur in these recommendations for the awards of contract, subject to the availability of funds.

On motion of Mr. Johnston, this contract was authorized, subject to availability of funds, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Johnston, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, none.

CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION O F VOLATILE STORAGE BUILDING

(4) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend awards of contracts as follows for the construction of a Volatile Storage Building northwest of the Central Food Stores Building, immediately east of the Illinois Central Railroad tracks: General — L. E. DeVore Company, Decatur . . ,$28 021 00 Base Bid .. $27 643 00 Additive Alternate: for cost of providing a permanent crossing for the railroad siding to connect with the driveway and parking area to this building 986 00 Less credit for omission of a trough and grating around four sides of the interior of the building and construction thereto . —608 00 Electrical — Brunkow Electric Company, Champaign 2 949 00 Plumbing — Thomas Plumbing and Heating Company, Urbana 470 01 ( Hearing — George S. Walker Plumbing and Hearing, Inc., Decatur 3 800 00 Ventilating — F, R. Inskip and Company, Champaign 2 552 00 Total Contracts $37 792 00 An assignment of $54,000 from Chemical Stores reserve funds is also recommended for the construction of this building. The difference between this amour! and the total of the contracts is for preparation of plans, extension of utilities. and other work to be done in connection with the construction of the building. Submitted herewith is a supporting memorandum from the Physical Plant Department, including a schedule of all bids received, a copy of which is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. I concur.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, these contracts were awarded, as recommended, and the requested assignment of funds was approved by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Johnston, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, none.

CONTRACTS FOR EXTENSION O F UTILITIES DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

(5) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend awards of contracts, subject to availability of funds, for construction of extensions of the utilities distribution system as described below, the award m each case being to the lowest bidder. Tunnel, Concrete Ductruns, Manholes, and Load Centers Construction to Women s Residence Halls. From the existing utilities tunnel at the northwest corner of the Veterinary Medicine Building, east along Peabody Drive, thence south across Pennsylvania Avenue to the Women's Residence Halls now under construction at Lincoln and Pennsylvania Avenues with alternates for extension of tunnel structure beyond the site improvements for the new residence halls. Tunnel, Concrete Ductruns, and Manhole Construction to Assembly Hal!. Fron] the existing utilities tunnel on South Oak Street north of the Central row Stores Building, south across Florida Avenue, thence east on the south swf of Florida Avenue to the approximate mid-point between First Street JM Fourth Street, where it will connect with the piping system to the AssocW) Hall. _ ...
