It is also recommended that all contracts other than the general contract be assigned to the contractor for the general work, making the total of his contract price $887,728. It is further recommended that an assignment agreement be entered into with Pathman Construction Company for the assignment of these other contracts for $10,000, this being the amount bid by that Company under Alternate. 1-A for a service charge for supervision of other contracts assigned to the general contractor. Funds are available in the state capital appropriations to the University from the Universities Building Fund, subject to release by the Governor. Submitted herewith is a supporting memorandum from the Physical Plant Department, including a schedule of all bids received, a copy of which is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. I concur in the awards of these contracts, subject to the release of funds.

On motion of Mr. Pogue, these contracts were awarded, as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Clement, Mr. Dilliard, Mr. Harewood, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Pogue, Mr. Swain, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Wilkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Kerner.

A P P R O P R I A T I O N AND C O N T R A C T S FOR TELEVISION S T U D I O S (6) T h e Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend awards of the following contracts for the remodeling of the former Purity Baking Company building at 1112 West Main Street, Urbana, to provide facilities for W I L L - T V studios which will be moved from the West Hall of the Memorial Stadium and to provide studio facilities for closed circuit television. This will provide the minimum facilities needed. The award in each case is to the lowest bidder: General — Shapland Construction Company, Champaign $ 43 835 Electrical — Downtown Electric, Urbana 32 325 Plumbing — David W . Reichard Plumbing and Heating, Urbana 5 840 Heating, Piping, Refrigeration, and Automatic Temperature Control — T. A. Brinkoetter and Sons, Inc., Decatur 41 369 Ventilating and Distribution System for Conditioned Air — R. H. Bishop Company, Champaign 13 985 Total $137 354 T h e following assignments of funds are necessary and are recommended: For construction work — from the state capital appropriations for 1961-63 from the Universities Building Fund (the appropriation for enlargement and rehabilitation of existing buildings) $166 500 For coaxial cable, microwave, and equipment — from the University's General Reserve 123 000 Total $289 500 Submitted herewith are supporting memoranda from the Physical Plant Department including a schedule of all bids received, and from the Division of Instructional Television describing the equipment and facilities to be required; copies of these memoranda are being filed with the Secretary for record. C O N T R A C T S FOR REMODELING ENGINEERING R E S E A R C H LABORATORY (7) Space in the basement of the Engineering Research Laboratory has been assigned to the Coordinated Science Laboratory for studies involving lowtemperature superconductivity. To convert this space into a useable research laboratory will cost an estimated $39,300 for remodeling and $7,700 for laboratory equipment.
