degree program with an area of concentration in economics, the degree to be conferred by the College of Business Administration. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Chicago Circle Senate, and the Chancellor now recommend the approval of a proposal for an undergraduate major in economics within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Students pursuing such a major would take the appropriate courses in economics offered by the College of Business Administration. The two paths to the degree in economics would differ, as do the corresponding programs on the Urbana campus, only to the extent that the graduation requirements of the colleges differ. The requirements for this program a r e : twenty-six hours in the major field, including twenty-four hours of advanced courses for the m a j o r ; eighteen hours for one minor; or twelve in each of two fields for a split minor. T h e requirements are parallel to those of other major fields of study within the general curriculum of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Senate Coordinating Council has indicated that no further Senate jurisdiction is involved. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Grimes, this recommendation was approved.
