UNDERGRADUATE INSTRUCTIONAL AWARDS FOR THE SUMMER OF 1 9 6 7 (6) In order to encourage faculty interest in improving the quality of undergraduate instruction, the program of Undergraduate Instructional Awards initiated for the summer of 1965 is proposed for continuation during the summer of 1967. The awards provide a full-time salary for two months (two-ninths of the academic-year salary), plus funds for required incidental expenses. The Executive Vice-President and Provost issued an invitation to faculty members last October to submit applications describing projects related to specific undergraduate programs or courses. After approval by heads of departments and review by the deans of the colleges concerned, sixty-seven applications were received. A special committee evaluated the proposals and recommended for support those believed to hold promise of substantial benefits to undergraduate instruction.
