equivalent students per instructor, which is slightly higher than that for juniorlevel students in architecture at Urbana-Champaign. T h e total costs of instruction will not exceed those at Urbana-Champaign so far as the expenditure of state funds is concerned. Transportation costs of staff and operational costs of the studio will be covered by private gifts to the Department of Architecture. Students would incur approximately the same living costs as they presently do at the Urbana campus, plus travel and personal expenses. Since some of the most significant developments in architecture, urban development and planning are occuring in Europe, it seems important that American architectural students become acquainted with these at firsthand.
