ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF COORDINATED SCIENCE LABORATORY, PHASES III AND IV, URBANA (17) T h e Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend an increase of $14,217.34 in the contract with Johnson, Drake & Piper, Incorporated, Terre Haute, Indiana, for construction of the Coordinated Science Laboratory, Phases I I I and IV. This increase is to provide an additional air conditioning and humidity control system required for the installation of a computer. Funds are available in the project budget. I concur.

On motion of Mrs. Watkins, this change in contract was authorized.

ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION AT CHICAGO CIRCLE CAMPUS, PHASE II (18) T h e Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend that the Board request the Illinois Building Authority to authorize an increase of $51,591 in the contract with Gust K. Newberg Construction Co., Chicago, for construction of the Chicago Circle campus, Phase I I . This increase will make possible the installation of revolving doors on two floors of the Library as originally planned. The installation had been eliminated due to the lack of funds available. Since the award of the construction contracts, federal grants have been received and funds are now available for this work. I concur. O n m o t i o n of M r . EMPLOYMENT OF SARGENT & LUNDY FOR ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR MODIFICATIONS IN THE STEAM DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM, URBANA (19) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend that the Board authorize a contract with Sargent & Lundy, Chicago, lor the preparation of plans and specifications for modifications in the steam distribution system on the Urbana campus. The modifications proposed will allow the system to handle an increase in steam pressure from 50 pounds per square inch to 150 pounds per square inch. The work will consist of collection of data and preparation of specific plans for each of the approximately two hundred buildings on the campus and in the underground steam distribution system. The firm will provide the services at actual costs of engineering and drafting personnel plus 50 per cent plus a fixed fee charge of 2 per cent of the actual cost of construction, and if a resident engineer is required, the firm will provide personnel at actual salary or wages plus 35 per cent. Funds are available from state capital appropriations to the University for 1965-67 and have been released. 1 concur.

On motion of Mr. Swain, this recommendation was approved.

EASEMENT TO ILLINOIS BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY (20) The Vice-President and Comptroller recommends that the Illinois Bell Telephone Company be granted an easement for the construction of an underground telephone cable over road right-of-way only and bordering Weber Farms Nos. 4 and 5 located in Waltham Township, La Salle County, Illinois, and that the following resolution be adopted.
