staff of the Office of Student Affairs, the Deans' Council, and a special consultative committee. 1 During the coming year the search for a permanent dean will continue. The Executive Vice President and Provost endorses this recommendation. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Swain, this appointment was approved.

EMPLOYMENT OF ARCHITECTS FOR LONG-RANGE PLANNING (4) The President of the University, with the concurrence of appropriate administrative officers, recommends the employment of the following firms for longrange campus planning studies at the campuses indicated. These studies have been requested by the State Board of Higher Education as part of the University's capital request for the next fiscal period and will be submitted to the Board for review prior to July 1970. Chicago Circle Campus — Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Chicago, at a fee of actual costs of technical personnel, including partners, plus ISO per cent for overhead and including reimbursable expenses. Medical Center Campus — Richardson, Severns, Scheeler & Associates, Inc., Champaign, at a fee of actual costs of technical personnel, including partners, plus ISO per cent for overhead and including reimbursable expenses. Urbana-Champaign Campus—Richardson, Severns, Scheeler & Associates, Inc., Champaign, at a fee of actual costs of technical personnel, including partners, plus ISO per cent for overhead and including reimbursable expenses. Funds for this work are available in state capital appropriations to the University and have been released by the Governor. The Committee on Buildings and Grounds has reviewed and approved this recommendation.

On motion of Mr. Clement, this recommendation was approved by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Gement, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Swain; no, none; absent, none.

EMPLOYMENT OF ARCHITECT FOR MISCELLANEOUS REMODELING, CHICAGO CIRCLE (5) The President of the University, with the concurrence of appropriate administrative officers, recommends the employment of Samuel Arthur Lichtmann, Chicago, for complete architectural services for miscellaneous remodeling projects at the Chicago Circle campus. The projects are to be undertaken during fiscal year 1970 at a fee of 9 per cent of the actual construction costs plus actual costs for reimbursable expenses authorized by the University. Payments for these services will be made from funds budgeted for each project authorized by the University and assigned to the architect. The Committee on Buildings and Grounds and the Advisory Committee on Architectural and Engineering Services have reviewed and approved this recommendation.

On motion of Mr. Swain, this recommendation was approved by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Clement, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Swain; no, none; absent, none.

EMPLOYMENT OF ARCHITECTS, MEDICAL CENTER (6) The President of the University, with the concurrence of appropriate administrative officers, recommends the employment of Schmidt, Garden & Erickson, Chicago, for architectural services in connection with hospital remodeling, consultation on program development and the planning of a new hospital at the Medical Center campus in accordance with the following:
