On motion of Mr. Swain, these appointments were approved.

ACTING DEAN OF STUDENTS, URBANA (5) The Chancellor at Urbana has recommended that Mr. H u g h M. Satterlee, presently Director of Student Financial Aids, be appointed Acting Dean of Students effective September 1, 1969, through August 31, 1970, or until a dean is appointed, and that he be given an additional salary at the rate of $2,000 per year. Mr. Satterlee will continue as Director of Student Financial Aids. This recommendation is endorsed by the Executive Vice President and Provost. I recommend approval. O n m o t i o n of M r . DIRECTORSHIP OF INSTITUTE OF COMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH, URBANA (6) The Dean of the College of Communications, Urbana, has recommended to the Chancellor the appointment of Dr. James W. Carey, presently Associate Professor of Journalism and Research Associate Professor in the Institute of Communications Research, as Associate Professor of Journalism and Research Associate P r o fessor in the Institute of Communications Research on indefinite tenure and Director of the Intitute of Communications Research beginning September 1, 1969, on an academic year service basis at an annual salary of $17,000.
