SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATIONS (10) The budgetary provisions for 1958-59 for wages, expense, and equipment in several departments are inadequate. RELOCATION OF FACILITIES AT CHICAGO UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION (11) In preparation for St. Lawrence Seaway traffic the city of Chicago will need to provide railroad trackage in the roadway at Navy Pier and railroad siding for storage of freight cars. This will require removal and relocation of a greenhouse and chemical storage vault used by the Chicago Undergraduate Division, and as a consequence of this the relocation of certain utilities and rebuilding of some steps and loading platforms. The University will be required to pay for some of these changes at an estimated cost not to exceed $20,000. The University has on deposit in the First National Bank of Chicago $200,000 in escrow to provide for the restoration of the areas of Navy Pier now occupied by the University when it is vacated. Under the escrow agreement, these funds may be invested by the University. At present, the escrow funds consist of $235,000 of par value of United States Treasury Bonds and Notes and $7,248.69 in cash, the securities representing a cost of $234,992.80. Negotiations are under way with city officials as to the possibility of using up to $20,000 of the excess over $200,000 in the escrow funds to pay the cost of the
