CONTRACT FOR BUILDING O N POULTRY FARM

(18) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $4,292 to Rigid Frame Structures, Inc., Champaign, the lowest bidder, for the construction of a metal building on the University Poultry Farm. Funds are available in the budget of the College of Agriculture and the Agricultural Experiment Station. I concur. On motion of Mr. H u g h e s , this contract was awarded, as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Clement, Mr. Harewood, Mr. Herrick, M r . H u g h e s , M r . CONTRACT FOR CRANE SYSTEM INSTALLATION IN PHYSICS RESEARCH LABORATORY

(19) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend award of a contract for $20,831 to the Whiting Corporation, Chicago, the lowest bidder, for the installation of a crane system in the Physics Research Laboratory (Betatron Building). This is on the basis of the low bid of $21,913, less an educational discount of 5 per cent and plus shipping costs. Funds are available under a contract with the Office of Naval Research. I concur. O n motion of M r . Swain, this contract was awarded, as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Clement, M r . Harewood, Mr. Herrick, Mr. H u g h e s , M r . ARCHITECTURAL A N D ENGINEERING SERVICES FOR ILLINOIS FIRE COLLEGE TRAINING FACILITIES

(20) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend authorization of a contract with A. Epstein and Sons, Inc., Chicago, to make site studies and cost estimates for the construction of training facilities for the Illinois Fire College at a fee of $2,500. These facilities will be constructed in the south farms area and will replace the present fire training tower on Sixth Street between Springfield Avenue and Healey Street. The area occupied by this tower has been assigned as a site for the construction of a building by the National Council of Teachers of English which has its headquarters at the University. The Illinois Firemen's Association will request a state appropriation for the new facilities. Funds are available in the current state appropriations to the University for 1957-59 f ° r the architectural studies. I concur. On motion of Mr. Johnston, this contract was authorized.

ADDITION TO CONTRACT FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES ON ILLIN1 U N I O N BUILDING

(21) Jameson and Harrison, Architects and Engineers, Peoria, have been employed for a part of the architectural and engineering work on the addition to the Illini Union Building. The design work is being done by Eggers and Higgins, New York.
