RECOMMENDATION OF T H E UNIVERSITY PATENT COMMITTEE

(25) The University Patent Committee submits, with the concurrence of the Chairman of the University Research Board, the following recommendation relating to an invention by members of the staff. Filipin, a new antifungal antibiotic — David Gottlieb, Professor of Plant Pathology; H. E. Carter, Professor of Biochemistry; and Alfred Ammann, postdoctoral assistant (1954), inventors. On May 15, 1954, the Board of Trustees transferred this invention to the University of Illinois Foundation for further development. The Foundation negotiated an agreement with the Upjohn Company whereby that corporation advanced funds to develop the discovery and apply for a patent.
