SABBATICAL LEAVES OF ABSENCE, I9 60-61

(2) I recommend that the following members of the staff be given sabbatical leaves of absence during the academic year 1960-61 in accordance with the provisions of the University of Illinois Statutes and on the terms and for the period indicated. This is supplemental to the lists of applications recommended to the Board of Trustees at the meetings on March 16 and April 20, i960. College of Agriculture H. H. DRAPER, Assistant Professor of Animal Nutrition, second semester, full pay; for research on biological function and metabolism of Vitamin E ; work to be done at the University of Liverpool where significant discoveries in this field of research have been made in recent years. CLEO A. HALL, Assistant State Leader of Home Advisers and Assistant Professor of Home Economics Extension, one year beginning October 1, i960, one-half pay; for studies for professional improvement in the area of supervision and administration of state and county programs in home economics. (These are not studies for an advanced degree.) JANE E. WERDEN, Associate Professor of Home Economics, one year, beginning September 1, i960, one-half pay; for studies in the fields of sociology, cultural anthropology, and psychology, for professional improvement and for relating these studies to her field of teaching and research in home economics. (These are not studies for an advanced degree; Miss Werden already has a Ph.D. degree.) Chicago Undergraduate Division IRWIN K. FEINSTEIN, Associate Professor of Mathematics Education, second semester, full pay; for studies of the impact of modern mathematics on the curriculum of the elementary school and the educational methods and techniques employed and the learning situation encountered by pupils and teachers alike.

On motion of Mr. Clement, these leaves were granted, as recommended.

HONORARY DEGREES (3) The Urbana-Champaign Senate on April 11, i960, voted to recommend that honorary degrees be conferred as follows: EDWARD ADELBERT DOISY, Distinguished Service Professor of Biochemistry and Director of the Edward A. Doisy Department of Biochemistry, School of Medicine, St. Louis University — Doctor of Science.
