consideration. If funds are available, he would recommend the erection of new houses, which would add approximately $2,500 to the above costs. If funds are not available, however, the alternative would be to proceed with their relocation. On motion of M r . Cleary, $2,485 w a s appropriated from the General Reserve F u n d for items 1 ( a ) , 2, 3, and 4, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. A d a m s , M r . Cleary, M r . T h e m a t t e r of items 1 ( b ) and 5 were referred to the Committee on Buildings and Grounds for consideration and report at the March meeting.

AWARD OF CONTRACTS FOR POWER PLANT INSTALLATIONS AND LANDSCAPING

(11) As the Board was advised on January 27, bids will be received in the office of Sargent and Lundy on February 21 on the electrical work, piping and boiler controls, and miscellaneous equipment installations in the new Power Plant building. Bids will also be received at Urbana on February 19 on landscaping around the Illini Union Building, Gregory Hall, and additions to the Library and McKinley Hospital. To avoid delay in the award of contracts, it is recommended that the President of the University be authorized to award a contract to the lowest bidder in each case, provided there is no question concerning his eligibility for the award, and that the bid is within the funds assigned for the particular phase of the work. On motion of M r . A d a m s , the President of the University was authorized to a w a r d contracts as recommended. President Mayer designated Mr. A d a m s to be present at the opening of bids in U r b a n a , and M r s . P l u m b in Chicago.

(12) The Director of the Physical Plant Department submits the following schedule of bids received on equipment for Gregory Hall and the additions to McKinley Hospital and the University Library (P.W.A.
