APPROPRIATION FOR IMPROVEMENT OF ANIMAL HOSPITAL

(9) The Committee on Special Appropriations and Non-Recurring Expenditures recommends an assignment from the General Reserve Fund of $10,100 for the improvement of the Animal Hospital in the College of Medicine, first phase. This will provide for a part of the total program of improvements recommended and greatly needed. It is proposed to do this in two or more steps according to a schedule submitted by the Executive Dean of the Chicago Colleges. Further recommendations will be submitted to the Board later. The estimated cost of the complete program is $23,100.

On motion of Mr. Cleary, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mr. Jensen, Mr. Mayer, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue, Mr. Wieland; no, none; absent, Mr. Horner, Mr. Karraker.

SANITARY IMPROVEMENTS ON SOUTH FARM

(10) The Director of the Physical Plant Department submits the following estimated costs of sanitary improvements on the South Farm buildings, to comply with the requirements of the State Department of Public Health and of the University Health Service: Estimated 1. Pure Bred Dairy Barn— Cost (a) Disconnect toilets in northwest wing from present storm sewer, installing new septic tank and disposal field to connect with toilet and lavatory $ 550 (b) Remove present tenant house and cesspool, moving tenant house on Pennsylvania Avenue to this location, providing new foundation and including the installation of a new septic tank and disposal field 4 150 2. Animal Husbandry Horse Barn— Install new toilet room, septic tank, and disposal field 950 3. Scale House at the Animal Husbandry Beef Cattle Barn— Construct portable urinal and connection for installation in east room 4. Animal Husbandry Swine Barn— Construct new women's toilet room, including septic tank and disposal field
