1. Professor E. C. Schmidt, Head of the Department of Railway Engineering, leave of absence with pay for two or three weeks from October 15, to undergo a surgical operation. 2. Mr. B. B. Miller, laborer in the Dispensary of the College of Medicine, additional leave of absence without pay to November 1, 1938. 3. Mrs. Beatrice Siemon, Assistant in the Hospital Laboratory at the College of Medicine, leave of absence without pay from September 8 to 19, 1938. 4. Mrs. lone Johnson Cope, Associate in Physical Education, one year from September 1, 1938, without pay, on account of her health. 5. Mrs. Velma Roberts, Stenographer in the University Bands office, one year (September 16, 1938, to August 31, 1939), without pay, on account of ill health.

On motion of Mr. Moschel, these leaves were granted as recommended.

A D J U S T M E N T S IN ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION B U D G E T (6) The Board of Directors of the Athletic Association at meetings held on August 6 and September 6 made a number of assignments from its unappropriated surplus funds for various purposes totaling $25,684, of which $1,200 is for the salary of an additional coach and the balance is for repairs and maintenance work on the Stadium which the Physical Plant Department has long been recommending. The Association has submitted itemized lists of these changes which have been examined by the Comptroller and myself and found satisfactory.

REAPPROPR1ATION O F U N E X P E N D E D B A L A N C E S (7) A recommendation that the unexpended balance of $554.06 in the Cook County Experiment Station budget, remaining at the end of the fiscal year 1937-1938, be reappropriated for use during the fiscal year 1938-1939.

On motion of Mrs. Freeman, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Mayer, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue; no, none; absent, Mr. Adams, Mr. Horner, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Wi eland.

A P P R O P R I A T I O N F O R MINOR PHYSICAL PLANT IMPROVEMENTS (8) A recommendation t h a t an appropriation be made for the following Physical Plant improvements for which funds have not been provided in the operating budget for 1938-1939: Finishing of Room 51 New Agriculture Building $900

On motion of Dr. Meyer, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Mayer, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue; no, none; absent, Mr. Adams, Mr. Horner, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Wieland.

AWARD O F C O N T R A C T S F O R R E R O U T I N G O F S E R V I C E LINES ON ILLINI UNION BUILDING SITE (9) The Physical Plant Department has called for bids on the rerouting of service lines crossing the Illini Union Building site on October I. It will be necessary to
