C. Blair, who is also Head of the Department of Horticulture, will create a vacancy in the headship of that Department. I recommend that D r . John W . Lloyd, Professor and Chief of Olericulture, be appointed Professor and Chief of Horticulture and Acting Head of t h e Department of Horticulture for one y e a r ; and Professor and Chief of Fruit and Vegetable Marketing in t h e Department of Agricultural Economics on indefinite tenure, effective September I, 1939, at an annual salary of $5,500. I t is further recommended that on termination of this one-year appointment as Acting Head of the Department of Horticulture and Professor and Chief of Horticulture, Doctor Lloyd continue as Professor and Chief of Fruit and Vegetable Marketing in the Department of Agricultural Economics on indefinite tenure at an annual salary of $5,500. O n m o t i o n of M r . P o g u e , t h i s a p p o i n t m e n t w a s m a d e a s r e c o m mended. HEADSHIP OF DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY (18) A recommendation that Professor William E. Carroll be appointed Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Professor of Swine Husbandry, in the College of Agriculture, and Chief in Swine Husbandry, in the Agricultural Experiment Station, on indefinite tenure beginning September 1, 1939, at a salary of $6,000 a year. Professor Carroll has been a member of the faculty of the University of Illinois as Professor of Swine Husbandry in the College of Agriculture and Chief in Swine Husbandry in the Agricultural Experiment Station since 1024. O n m o t i o n of M r . Cleary, this a p p o i n t m e n t w a s m a d e as recommended. APPOINTMENT OF EMMETT B. McNATT AS ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS (19) A recommendation that Emmett B. McNatt, Associate Professor of Economics at North Carolina State College, be appointed Assistant Professor of 21 Also Assistant'in Anatomy.
