QUARTERLY REPORT OF THE COMPTROLLER (43) The report of the Comptroller to the Board of Trustees for the quarter ending March 31, 1939. Copies of the report were sent to the members of the Board in advance of this meeting.

On motion of Mr. Jensen, this report was received for record.

BEQUEST OF BELLA CHRISTY BROWN (44) The will of the late Bella Christy Brown of Wilmette includes the following bequest to the University, under certain contingencies which either will exist far in the future or may not come to pass a t all: "k. In the event of the death of my son, Christy Brown, and of the death of my grandson, Christy Brown, Jr., without issue, I direct that the entire income of my estate shall be paid, share and share alike, to said LaStralia Brown and Bertha Brown, the half-sister of my deceased husband, Sanger Brown, or the survivor of them, and upon the death of the survivor, I direct the said trust estate shall terminate and the corpus shall be divided as follows: "(1) One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) shall be paid to the Medical Department of the University of Illinois to establish a research fund in mental and nervous diseases, to be known as the 'Sanger Brown Fund.' The income therefrom only shall be used." A copy of this will is being given to the Secretary of the Board for record. The University Counsel has entered the appearance of the University in the probate of this will.
