AGREEMENTS FOR COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATION (37) A recommendation that an agreement be authorized with Innis, Speiden, & Company, an investigation of the effectiveness of Larvacide (Chloropicrin) on various insect pests of farmers' grain bins, to be carried on by the Agricultural Experiment Station and the State Natural History Survey. The agreement is drawn for a period of one year beginning December 1, 1938, with provisions for its extension, and the Company has agreed to contribute $350 to cover the expenses of the work.

On motion of Mrs. Freeman, the execution of this agreement was authorized.

EXTENSION OF AGREEMENTS FOR COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATIONS (38) A report of the extension or renewal of the following agreements for cooperative investigations, the agreement in each case having been approved by the Board of Trustees: 1. Association of American Railroads and the Rail Manufacturers' Technical Committee, for cooperative investigation of the Causes of Failure of Railroad Rails in Service, for two years from December 31, 1938. Each agency will contribute $22,500 a year, or a total of $90,000 for the expense of the investigation. ( T h e previous agreement provided a contribution totaling $125,000 covering the period from March 18, 1931, and including extensions of agreement, through December 31, 1938.) 2. The Musher Foundation, for a cooperative investigation to study the anti-oxidant properties of oat flour in the preservation of meat, for a period of eight months from November 1, 1938. The Foundation will contribute $250 and the oat flour.

On motion of Mrs. Plumb, the extension of these agreements was approved, and the Secretary was instructed to send an expression of appreciation to the Association of American Railways.
