The budget of capital expenditures was considered item by item. Director Havens made statements in support of the capital items. On motion of Dr. Meyer, Item 1, New Power Plant, $1,675,000, was approved. On motion of Mrs. Plumb, Item 2, Fire Protection and Improvements in Chemistry Building, $100,000, was approved. On motion of Mr. Moschel, Item 3, Addition to Chemistry Laboratories, $150,000, and Item 4, Agricultural Laboratories, $250,000, were approved. Mr. Adams, Mrs. Freeman, and Mrs. Plumb voted no. On motion of Mr. Moschel, Item 5, Fund for Financing Men's Dormitories, $250,000, was stricken from the budget. On motion of Mr. Cleary, Item 6, Equipment and Remodeling Chicago Departments, $150,000, was stricken from the budget. On motion of Mr. Adams, Item 7, General Improvements of Buildings and Campus, $200,000, was approved. The effect of these actions was to make the tabulation of the complete budget approved and adopted for transmittal to the State Department of Finance as follows:
