Permanent additions to current budget: Dean of Women, wages, to meet additional demands $ 200 Pharmacy, salaries. New position to be filled by F . T. Maher, Assistant ; to relieve other members of department because of Dean Day's absence 1 2001 Medical Dispensary, salaries. Increase in rate to Lydia C. Conrad, Record Clerk, from $1,720 to $1,800, her former rate 80 Journalism salaries. Increase in rate to L. W . Murphy, Director, from $5,000 to $5,500, his former rate 500 Business Organization and Operation, salaries. Position filled by N. D. Wakefield, Assistant; to permit paying him $1,500 instead of $1,300 200 Dairy Technology, college salaries. Increase in rate to Paul H. Tracy, Associate P r o f e s s o r ; total increase $500 to meet competition; $333 of increase charged to Dairy Creamery Revolving Fund 167 Prosthetic Dentistry—full dentures and removable partial dentures, salaries. Increase in rate to M. B. Hattenhauer from $1,000 to $1,200 (one-half time), and an increase in rate to Paul Bostian of $140 (three-tenths time) 340 Chemistry, salaries. Increase in rate to Ruth E. On motion of Mrs. Plumb, these adjustments were confirmed and the appropriation from the General Reserve Fund was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Karraker, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue ; no, none ; absent, Mr. Horner, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Wieland.

APPROPRIATION FOR ENFORCEMENT OF STUDENT MOTOR VEHICLE REGULATIONS (8) A recommendation that an assignment of $1,100 be made from the General Reserve Fund for services and other expenses necessary for the enforcement of the student motor vehicle regulations during the University year 1938-1939.

On motion of Mrs. Freeman, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Karraker, Dr. Me3'er, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue; no, none; absent, Mr. Horner, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Wieland. At this point, President Mayer returned and resumed the chair.

APPROPRIATION FOR DIVERSION OF SERVICE LINES CROSSING THE ILLINI U N I O N BUILDING SITE (9) At the meeting of the Board on September 24 (Minutes, page 57), an appropriation of $40,000 was made to cover the University's share of the cost of rerouting the utilities crossing the Illini Union Building site. This was based on an estimated total cost of $58,000 submitted by the consulting engineer who prepared the plans and specifications for this work.
