Head, Department of Health and Safety Studies, Urbana

( 7 ) T h e chancellor at Urbana-Champaign, after consultation with the dean of the College of Applied Life Studies, has recommended the appointment of R. Warwick Armstrong, presently professor of public health and of geography, University of Hawaii at Manoa, as professor of health education on indefinite tenure and head of the Department of Health and Safety Studies, beginning August 1, 1984, on a twelve-month service basis at a salary of $55,000. Dr. Armstrong will succeed Donald B. Stone who asked to be relieved of this administrative assignment. The nomination is made with the advice of a search committee 2 and after consultation with faculty members of the department. The vice president for academic affairs concurs. I recommend approval. Head, Department of Political Science, Urbana

(8) T h e chancellor at Urbana-Champaign, after consultation with the dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has recommended the appointment of Roger E. Kanet, presently professor of political science, as head of the Department of Political Science beginning August 2 1 , 1984, on an academic-year service basis at an annual salary of $50,500. Dr. Kanet will continue to hold the rank of professor on indefinite tenure. He will succeed Richard Merritt who has asked to be relieved of this administrative assignment. T h e nomination is made with the advice of a search committee 3 and after consultation with faculty members of the department. T h e director of the School of Social Sciences and the Executive Committees of the School of Social Sciences and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences support the recommendation. T h e vice president for academic affairs concurs. I recommend approval.
