contractor for general work, making the total of its contract $235,319; and (3) an agreement with F & H Construction for the assignment of the other contracts. Funds are available in the FY 1983 appropriated funds budget of the Fire Service Institute.

On motion of Mr. Stone, these recommendations were approved and award of contract was confirmed by the following vote: Aye, Mrs. Day, Dr. Donoghue, Mr. Forsyth, Mr. Hahn, Mr. Howard, Mr. Logan, Mr. Madden, Mrs. Shepherd, Mr. Stone; no, none; absent, Governor Thompson. (The student advisory vote was: Aye, Mr. Bandala, Mr. Cobb, Miss Forsyth; no, none.)

Purchases

(29) T h e president submitted, with his concurrence, a list of purchases recommended by the directors of purchases and the acting vice president for business and finance. T h e list of purchases was presented in two categories: purchases from appropriated funds (i.e., from State appropriations to the University) and purchases from institutional funds. T h e latter term designates funds received by the University under contracts with the United States government, private corporations, and other organizations; grants from foundations, corporations, and other donors; and University revolving funds authorized by law. A complete list of the purchases, with supporting information, including the quotations received was sent to each member of the board in advance of the meeting. A copy is being filed with the secretary of the board for record.

Report of Purchases Approved by the Acting Vice President for Business and Finance

(30) T h e acting vice president for business and finance also submitted a report of purchases approved by him on recommendation of the directors of purchases in amounts of $20,000 to $25,000, and a report of bids taken on behalf of the Capital Development Board. A copy of this report is filed with the secretary.
