Improvements, Football Practice Field, Athletic Association, Urbana

(33) On February 28, 1983, the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Athletic Association authorized a special appropriation of $269,650 for a project to improve and enlarge the football practice area east of Memorial Stadium at Urbana. The project includes removal of the tennis courts, installation of a new irrigation system, leveling and topdressing the field's area, and erecting a brick and ornamental iron fence. T h e president of the University, with the concurrence of the appropriate administrative officers, recommends that the project be approved and the special appropriation of $269,650 be confirmed by the Board of Trustees and that the Athletic Association be requested to remit that amount to the University.

On motion of Mrs. Day, these recommendations were approved by the following vote: Aye, Mrs. Day, Dr. Donoghue, Mr. Forsyth, Mr. Howard, Mr. Logan, Mr. Madden, Mrs. Shepherd, Mr. Stone; no, none; absent, Mr. Hahn, Governor Thompson. (The student advisory vote was: Aye, Mr. Bandala, Mr. Cobb, Miss Forsyth; no, none.)

SECRETARY'S REPORT

The secretary presented for record appointments to the faculty and changes of status made by the president, resignations and terminations, leaves of absence, and retirements. A copy of the report is filed with the secretary.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD

President Forsyth called attention to the schedule of regular meetings for the next four months: April 21, Urbana-Champaign; May 19, Chicago campus (University Center); June 16, Urbana-Champaign; July 21, Chicago campus (Health Sciences Center).

SCHEDULE OF MEETINGS 1983-84
