In view of the test results the most economical purchase would be to obtain all the coal available from the Oakwood Coal Company and the Shippers Fuel Corporation, and the balance of our requirements from truck operators who bid $1.50 per ton delivered. T h e Shippers Fuel Corporation will furnish coal produced at a strip mine near Danville operated by the F . C. Morgan Coal Company. T h e others are truck operators who obtain coal from various wagon mines in the Danville district. All contracts will be contingent on the ability of the vendor to furnish satisfactory bond. PURCHASE O F COAL FOR CHICAGO DEPARTMENTS (24) A recommendation from the Business Agent for the Chicago Departments and the Director of the Physical Plant Department for the award of a contract to the Consumers Company of Chicago for the purchase of approximately 1,000 tons of No. 3 Illinois Chestnut Coal at a price of $4.33 a ton for the Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy for the period October 1, 1936, to August 31, 1937. Bids were secured from six companies, the Consumers Company being the lowest bidder on the basis of both price and quality of coal offered.
