APPROPRIATION TO PHYSICAL PLANT DEPARTMENT FOR POLICE SERVICE

(21) At the meeting of the Board on December 3, 1937, an appropriation of $3,500 was made to the Physical Plant Department for police service. This was $1,500 less than the Director estimated would be needed, but $500 of the difference will be charged to residence hall operations, for police service in the vicinity of the residence halls, and $1,000 has been contributed by the Athletic Association for police service supplied by the Physical Plant Department at the Stadium and the George Huff Gymnasium at football and basketball games. This has been deposited with the Comptroller of the University. I recommend that this amount of $1,000 be appropriated to the Physical Plant Department for additional police service. On motion of Mrs. Plumb, this appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue, Mr. Wieland; no, none; absent, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Horner, Dr. Meyer.

APPROPRIATION FOR RECREATIONAL FACILITIES I N CHICAGO DEPARTMENTS

(22) A recommendation that an assignment of $1,513.75 be made from the General Reserve Fund to the School of Physical Education and to the Physical Plant Department for the following provisions for the recreational program in the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy: School of Physical Education For rental of swimming facilities at Joseph S. Duncan Y.M.C.A. from November, 1937, through May, 1938. $293 75 For rental of gymnasium facilities at the Professional Schools Y.M.C.A. from January through May, 1938 75 00 Total $ 368 75 Physical Plant Department Construction work on property leased from University of Chicago to provide soft ball, volley ball, and horseshoe courts facilities $595 00 Construction work in basement of Medical Building for installation of shower room and remodeling for equipment room.... 550 00

APPROPRIATION FOR REGISTRAR'S OFFICE

(23) A recommendation that an assignment of $1,000 be made from the General Reserve Fund to the Registrar's Office to supplement the budget for office expense and wages for the current academic and fiscal years. This supplementary appropriation is due to the increased expense of that office resulting from th$ increase in enrollment.
