SERVICES OF UNIVERSITY COUNSEL AS STATE DIRECTOR FOR NATIONAL EMERGENCY C O U N C I L (6) On May 6, 1935, Judge Sveinbjorn Johnson, University Counsel, was authorized to accept the appointment of Director for Illinois of the National Emergency Council, and the President of the University was directed to work out the necessary details of the arrangement. This was reported to the Board on July 6, 1935 (Minutes, page 361). Judge Johnson had expected to terminate his services as State Director at the end of the calendar year 1937, pursuant to an executive order of the President of the United States discontinuing the National Emergency Council effective December 31, 1937. The Acting Executive Director of the National Emergency Council has requested that Judge Johnson be permitted to continue his services for six months from January 1, 1938, for which period the life of the National Emergency Council has been extended. Griffith, Professor of Education and Director of the Bureau of Institutional Research, has been asked by Mr. Phillip K. Wrigley of the Wrigley Company of Chicago to serve as a consultant to his company and affiliated enterprises, first in the creation of a psychological laboratory for research in athletic ability, and later for general personnel work. H e requests permission to undertake the following, under the conditions specified, and to accept professional fees for such w o r k :
