CANCELLATION OF AWARD OF COAL CONTRACT (22) At its meeting on September 27, 1937 (Minutes, page 494), the Board authorized the award of contracts for the purchase of coal, including one to Washington Martin for 1,500 tons at $1.75 a ton. Mr. Martin is unable to present the required bond guaranteeing completion of the contract and consequently this award should be cancelled. In the meantime, the University is not likely to suffer financial loss as there were other bidders to whom contracts were authorized and it is now possible to purchase coal on the open market at a price less than that offered by Mr. Martin.

On motion of Mrs. Plumb, this contract was cancelled as recommended.
