PURCHASES AUTHORIZED A N D RECOMMENDED (13) A report of the following emergency purchases, amounting to $1,000 or over, authorized by the President of the University under the Statutes: 1. New heating system for second floor of Men's Old Gymnasium and Men's Gymnasium, Annex—eight unit heaters—from C. A. Dunham Company, the low bidder, at a price of $3,128.20. 2. Furnish and install marble and tile work in toilet room No. 123 Engineering Hall in accordance with plans and specifications by the Physical Plant Department by F . E. Gates Marble and Tile Company, the low bidder, at a price of $1,027.00.

On motion of Mr. Wieland, the President's authorization of these purchases was confirmed.

3. A recommendation for the purchase of 135 student instrument cases for Dental Supply Room, from H . Gerstner and Sons, the low bidder, at a cost of $1,087.50. These cases are sold to students through the supply room. O n m o t i o n of M r . P o g u e , t h i s p u r c h a s e w a s a u t h o r i z e d . LICENSE AGREEMENT W I T H RESETTLEMENT ADMINISTRATION FOR USE OF POWER LINE (14) A recommendation from the Dean of the College of Agriculture for the approval of an agreement with the Regional Office of the Resettlement Administration licensing the University to use a newly constructed power line belonging to the United States Government and located on the Dixon Springs Station.

On motion of Mrs. Plumb, this agreement was authorized.

EXTENSION OF AGREEMENTS FOR COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATIONS (15) A report of the extension of the following agreements for cooperative investigations, the original agreement in each case having been approved by the Board of Trustees: 1. Agreement with the Utilities Research Commission for three cooperative research investigations to December 31, 1937. T h e projects and the amounts which the Commission has agreed to contribute for the continuation of the investigations a r e : Case 23, Methods of Eliminating the Stretching of Lead Sheaths of High Voltage Cables $4 500 Case 31, Solubility of Boiler W a t e r s 7 500 Case 34, Stack Gases 6 510 O n m o t i o n of M r . M o s c h e l t h e e x t e n s i o n of t h e s e a g r e e m e n t s w a s confirmed. AGREEMENT W I T H THE A L U M I N U M COMPANY OF AMERICA FOR A COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATION OF THE PHYSIOLOGICAL EFFECTS OF FLUORINE (16) A recommendation from the Dean of the College of Agriculture for the approval of an agreement with the Aluminum Company of America for a cooperative investigation of T h e Physiological Effects of Fluorine with Particular Reference to the Use of Fluorine Insecticides in the Spraying of Fruits and Vegetables, to be carried on by the Agricultural Experiment Station. T h e agreement is drawn for a period of one year beginning July 1, 1937, with provision for its extension, and the Company has agreed to contribute $3,500 to cover the expenses of the investigation. T h e agreement conforms to all of the provisions of the statutes and policy of the University relating to such projects. O n m o t i o n of M r .
