APPROPRIATION TO DEPARTMENT OF BACTERIOLOGY (3) A recommendation that an assignment of $1,250 be made from the General Reserve F u n d to the Department of Bacteriology for expense and equipment to supplement the appropriation for the current year.

On motion of Mrs. Plumb, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue; no, none; absent, Mr. Horner, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Wieland.

APPROPRIATION TO DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY (4) A recommendation that an assignment of $2,500 be made from the General Reserve F u n d to the Department of Chemistry, to supplement the appropriation made for the current fiscal year for expense and equipment.

On motion of Mrs. Freeman, the appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue; no, none; absent, Mr. Horner, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Wieland.

LEGISLATIVE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY (5) As reported to the University at a previous meeting, Mr. H . M. Dunlap, for thirty-six years a member of the State Senate of Illinois, has offered to prepare a history of the University's State legislation. His offer was referred to me for further consideration and report. Senator Dunlap has submitted an outline of the work and estimates that it will take from ten months to a year to complete it. If his offer is accepted he should receive an honorarium to reimburse him for the time and personal expenses which he will incur, such as trips to Springfield and clerical work. I recommend an honorarium of $3,000 for this work.

On motion of Mr. Cleary, this offer was accepted and the appropriation was made from the General Reserve Fund, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue; no, none; absent, Mr. Horner, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Wieland.

PURCHASE OF PROPERTIES (6) A report from the Comptroller of the purchase of the following properties in accordance with the authorization of the Board on January 29: Vacant lot, 1202 West Springfield Avenue: Purchase price $2 000 00 Other cost (commission $100, tax $47.59) 147 59 Total $2 147 59 Improved property, 1204 W e s t Springfield Avenue: Purchase price $7 500 00 T a x e s assumed by University 141 51 Total $7 641 51 Grand Total $9 789 10 An appropriation of $3,500 was made by the Board for these purchases, of which $750 has been used as a payment on the improved property at 1204 W e s t Springfield Avenue, the balance to be paid on or before July 1, 1937. A supplementary appropriation of $6,300 will be necessary to complete this transaction.

On motion of Mr. Pogue, this appropriation was made from the General Reserve Fund, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Adams, Mr. Cleary, Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Karraker, Mr. Mayer, Mr. Moschel, Mrs. Plumb, Mr. Pogue; no, none; absent, Mr. Horner, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Wieland.
