PURCHASES RECOMMENDED (19) A recommendation that the following purchases be authorized: 1. English Finish Book Paper, 900 reams 2 5 x 3 8 — 40 tb., for use in printing the Annual Register, from Dvvight Brothers Paper Company, Chicago, the low bidder, at a price of $4.30 per c w t , a total cost of $1,548.00 Funds are available in the budget for this purchase. 2. Lumber for use in maintenance work: 3000 ft. 2" Clear Plain Red Oak 2000 ft. 1" Clear Plain Red Oak 3000 ft. 1" Clear All H e a r t California Red Wood Selected and Better Northern White Pine as follows: 2000 ft. 1" x 12"—16' 1000 ft. 1" x 10"—16' 1000 ft. 1" x 12"—12' 1000 ft. 1" x 10"—12' 1000 ft. iys" random from F r a n k P a x t o n Lumber Company, Kansas City, Kansas, the low bidder, at a price of $1,650, f.o.b. Urbana. 3. 2,420 diploma covers, from B. C. Kassell Company, Chicago, the low bidder, at a price of 79^ each. Provision has been made in the budget for 1936-1937 for this purchase. 4. Pipe casing, wood stave, tin lined, 300 ft. 8^4" bore, 4" shell; 300 ft. 5" bore, 4" shell, for use in replacing steam line to Vegetable Greenhouse, from the American District Steam Company, Chicago, the low bidder, at a price of $1,089, f.o.b. Urbana. Funds are available in the budget of the Physical Plant Department for this purchase. 5. Turbine parts 1 Gear pinion and shaft for turbine No. 14533. 1 Turbine rotor completely bladed and assembled on rotor shaft, together with gland runner, coupling keys, and gland water harries, suitable for installation in either turbine No. 9412 or No. 14533, from the Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Company, at a price of $1,095, f.o.b. factory. As these are spare parts for Westinghouse turbine generators they can only be obtained from that Company. Funds are available in the budget for this purchase.

On motion of Mrs. Freeman, these purchases were authorized.

PURCHASES AUTHORIZED (20) A report of the following purchases authorized by the President of the University, in accordance with the University Statutes: I. Approximately 2,000 bushels No. 4 yellow shelled corn for the Department of Animal Husbandry Feed Storage, at a price of $1.00 per bushel delivered, from Roy Douglas and Frances M. Sullivan, of Urbana. This purchase was arranged by a representative of the Department after investigation of available supply, quality, and price being considered.

On motion of Dr. Meyer, this action was confirmed.

REPORT OF DEATH BENEFITS PAID (21) T h e Comptroller has been authorized to pay the death benefits due the beneficiaries of the following members of the staff in accordance with the L'niversity Statutes and the terms of their employment. 1. William M. Woods, Laborer in the Department of A g r o n o m y . . . .$506.20 Mr. Woods was in the service of the University from July 1, 1915 until his death on October 30, 1936. 2. Paul David, Laborer in the College of Dentistry $725.00 Mr. David was in the service of the University from September, 1907 until his death on October 29, 1936.
