BIDS FOR ADDITION TO TURNER HOUSE FOR GEOLOGICAL SURVEY LABORATORIES

(26) A letter from the Supervising Architect: July 25, 1931 GEOLOGICAL SURVEY LABORATORY BUILDING President H. W. Chase, 335 Administration (W) Dear President Chase: The following bids were received from local contractors this afternoon for the General Work on the proposed Geological Survey Laboratory Building: 1. Don Mason 8 8 359 00 2. English Bros 9 500 00 3. A. W . Stoolman 9 787 00 4. Sowers & Corkery 9 876 00 5. King & Petry 10 720 00 The above bids do not include the heating, plumbing, wiring, ventilating, or laboratory equipment; nor the remodeling in the Turner house. I recommend that the contract be awarded to the low bidder, Don Mason, of Urbana, at his bid of $8,359.00. Yours very truly, James M. White Supervising Architect On motion of Mr. Armstrong, the general contract was awarded to the lowest bidder, Don Mason. On motion of Mr. Trees, the Supervising Architect was authorized to secure bids on the heating, plumbing, wiring, and laboratory equipment, and to award contracts in consultation with the President of the Board. AUDITORIUM FOR MEDICAL LABORATORIES BUILDING (27) A statement from the Supervising Architect concerning a proposed auditorium for the new Medical and Dental College Laboratories Building. This statement was received for record. RENEWAL OF POPE MORTGAGE (TRUST FUNDS) Mr. Trees, for the Finance Committee, recommended that the Pope mortgage ($5250 on 400 acres of land near Benton) be renewed for three years, at six per cent, on condition that the principal be reduced by #500 at this time. O n motion of M r . Trees, this recommendation w a s adopted.

VANCOUVER LUMBER COMPANY BONDS (TRUST FUNDS)

M r . Trees, for the Finance Committee, presented a recommendation that a proposal that the University pay an assessment on the V a n couver L u m b e r C o m p a n y bonds be not accepted. O n motion of M r . Trees, this proposal w a s not accepted.

RENEWAL OF KAISER MORTGAGE (TRUST FUNDS)

M r . Trees, for the Finance Committee, recommended that the Kaiser mortgage (#7,000 on 80 acres of land in C h a m p a i g n County) be renewed for three years, at six per cent, on condition that the principal be reduced b y #500 at this time. O n motion of M r . Trees, this recommendation w a s adopted.
