Chicago, January 2, 1931 Board of Trustees, University of Illinois, c/o Granger & BoUenbacher, Architects, SSS North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. A W e propose and agree to furnish and install the Laboratory Equipment for the Medical and Dental College Laboratories Building in accordance with the specifications, schedule and drawings as follows: Cabinet work, including fixtures on top of desk FiftyEight Thousand One Hundred Twenty-Six and 80/100 Dollars ¥58 126 80 Mechanical work per drawings, Thirty-Eight Thousand Nine Hundred Forty-Six and 50/100 Dollars $38 946 50 Total Complete $97 073 30 Respectfully submitted,

Director of Sales and WHEREAS, the request of W. W. Kimball Company seemed to indicate that the Kimball Company was unwilling to make and complete a contract for the equipment at their original bid of #58,126.80, but was trying to introduce a higher bid, which request and attempt the Board rejected, and awarded the contract to the then lowest bidder (which contract has not been executed); and WHEREAS, Mr. A. E. Kaltenbrun, representing W. W. Kimball Company appeared before the Executive Committee of the Board on February 5, 1931, and stated orally that his company was prepared to furnish and install the laboratory equipment in question at their original bid of #58,126.80, and presented the following signed statement to that effect: Our bid of $58,126.80 for Laboratory Furniture sil stands and upon which we tl will be pleased to have you take such action as is proper, either to award contract to us or i awarded to others to return our certified check. f

In event contract is awarded to another Company and our certified check is returned to us we then will consider the incident closed. W. W. Kimball Co. February 5, 1931 By A. E. Kaltenbrun and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees is of the opinion that W. W. Kimball Company is a responsible organization, fully able to execute its contract as proposed; and W H E R E A S , the statement of the representative of W . W . Kimball Company today submitted makes this company the lowest bidder for this equipment, Therefore, B E I T R E S O L V E D by the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, in regular, legal, meeting assembled this sixth day of February, A.
