Farm mortgage: #10,000 for seven years at 5>£ per cent on 200 acres of improved land in C h a m p a i g n C o u n t y , belonging to Charles Gourdier. B o n d s : #3000 in b o n d s of the Central Illinois Public Service C o m p a n y , d u e 1956, if it is found that these b o n d s are legal investm e n t for trust funds. O n motion of D r . Noble, these recommendations were adopted. PLANS FOR A R B O R E T U M Mrs. Hopkins, for the Committee on Landscaping the Campus, presented a recommendation that the Secretary be instructed to ask Professor Blair to endeavor to m a k e a report o n the plans for the A r b o r e t u m before the next meeting of the Board of Trustees. O n motion of M r s . Hopkins, this recommendation w a s adopted.

CONTRACT FOR LABORATORY EQUIPMENT

On motion of Dr. Noble, the action of the Board on January 9, 1931 (Minutes, pages 137-138), on the contract for the laboratory equipment for the Medical and Dental College Laboratory Building was reconsidered. On motion of Dr. Noble, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: W H E R E A S , on January 7, 1931, W . W . Kimball Company submitted a bid of #58,126.80 on the general laboratory equipment for the Medical and Dental Laboratories Building, which bid was found to be the lowest, and W H E R E A S , W . W . Kimball Company also on January 2, 1931, after the bids for the general laboratory equipment had been publicly opened, submitted the following request: January 2, 1931 Board of Trustees, University of Illinois, c/o Granger & Bollenbacher, Architects, 333 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Gentlemen: Referring to our Proposal of this date covering Laboratory Equipment for the Medical and Dental College Building, University of Illinois, to be erected at Southeast corner of Polk and Lincoln Streets, Chicago, Illinois, we regret to state that through a stupid blunder of our estimating department, our figures as submitted covered only the cabinet work, including plumbingfixtureson top of desks, etc., neglecting to include in ourfiguresthe work as called for on your Mechanical Drawing plans. W e therefore take the liberty of attaching herewith a revised estimate, Schedule A, which we hope can be substituted for, or attached to, our original bid.
