the University for the year and for the quarter ending June 30, 1929, be received for record. O n motion of Mr. Trees, this report was received for record. PRESIDENT'S HOUSE O n motion of M r . Trees, the Committee on Buildings and Grounds was requested to report at the next meeting of the Board on the location and progress on plans of a house for the President of the University. COMMITTEE ON SELECTING A PRESIDENT Mr. Barr, for the Special Committee on Selecting a President of the University, reported that there were sundry expenses connected with the work of the committee, for travel, etc., and requested an appropriation. O n motion of Mrs. Evans, an appropriation of $3500, or so much thereof as m a y be necessary, was made from the Reserve and Contingent fund for the expense of this committee, with the provision that all expenses chargeable to this fund are to be certified to the Comptroller by the Chairman of the Special Committee and the Chairman of the Finance Committee. The vote was as follows: Aye, President Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Simpson, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Emmerson, Mr. Fisher, Dr. Noble. DATE OF NOVEMBER MEET1NG O n motion of M r . Trees, it was voted to hold the November meeting at the University, in Urbana, at 9:30 a.m., on Friday, November 15, 1929. APPOINTMENTS MADE BY PRESIDENT KINLEY The Secretary presented for record a l s of appointments made by it the President of the University. Alexopoulos, C. J., Assistant in Botany, on one-half time, for ten months beginning September i, 1929, at a cash compensation of six hundred dollars ($600). (September 20, 1929)1 Amelotti, Emil, Assistant in Mathematics, on two-thirds time, beginning at the opening of the first semester, and continuing until February 1, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of one hundred dollars (fioo) a month. (September 25, 1929) Arvin, M . J., Assistant in Physics, in the College of Engineering, on one-fourth time, beginning September 23, 1929, and continuing until June 30, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of thirty-five dollars ($35) a month. (September 24, 1929) Banta, Alonzella, Filing Clerk in the Agricultural Extension Service, in the College of Agriculture, for one year beginning September 1, 1929, at a cash compensation of one thousand one hundred forty dollars ($1140). (September 17, 1929) Baugh, Robert Lewis, Assistant in History, on one-half time, for nine months beginning October 1, 1929, at a cash compensation at the rate of sixty dollars (?6o) a month. (October 4, 1929) Beach, Virginia Laura, Assistant in English, on one-third time, beginning at the opening of the first semester, and continuing until February 1, 1930, at a cash compensation at the rate of fifty dollars ($50) a month.
