of the State. I am of the opinion that authority should be given to Director Mumford by your Board to exercise this supervision, and therefore request that such authority be given him. O n m o t i o n of D r . N o b l e , this authority w a s granted.

CHANGES IN REQUIREMENTS FOR DEGREE IN LIBRARY SCIENCE

(11) The Council of Administration, acting for the University Senate, recommends the following changes in the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Library Science: 1. That Library 30 (library practice), a three-hour course, be discontinued. 2. That Library 16 (a course in order and accessions), Library 3b (selection of books), and Library 31b (cataloguing) all be changed from two-hour to three-hour courses. 3. That Library 17 (classification) be reduced from a three-hour to a two-hour course. O n m o t i o n of M r s . Grigsby, these requirements w e r e adopted.

CHANGES IN REQUIREMENTS FOR DEGREE IN AGRICULTURE

(12) The Council of Administration, acting for the University Senate, recommends the following changes in the requirements for graduation in the College of Agriculture: 1. That the requirement of Horticulture 39a-39b (Special Lectures in Landscape Architecture) be discontinued. 2. That Botany 8 (Plant Ecology, three hours) be required in Landscape Architecture. 3. That Chemistry 24 (Quantitative Analysis,fivehours) be substituted for Chemistry 11 (Quantitative Analysis, three hours). 4. That two semesters of English literature be required in the curricula in H o m e Economics instead of the present set requirement of English I and 2 (Survey of English Literature, 8 hours). O n m o t i o n of M r . S i m p s o n , these requirements w e r e adopted.

FEE FOR GRADUATE COURSE IN ORTHODONTIA

(13) The Dean of the College of Dentistry recommends, and the Provost and the Comptroller concur, that a special tuition fee of $600 be charged for a graduate course in orthodontia which will cover a full calendar year, for the training of those w h o wish to practice orthodontia as a specialty. I concur in this recommendation. O n m o t i o n of M r s . B u s e y , this fee w a s authorized.

LIVING QUARTERS OF STUDENTS

(14) The Council of Administration recommends adoption of the following regulation concerning living quarters of students: N o unmarried undergraduate student m a y occupy living quarters in which there does not reside some person in general charge approved by the University. O n m o t i o n of M r s . E v a n s , this rule w a s adopted.

COOPERATIVE INVESTIGATION OF EFFECT OF GAS HEATING ON FLUE PIPING A N D CHIMNEYS

(15) The Dean of the College of Engineering recommends approval of an agreement with the Utilities Research Commission for a cooperative investigation of the Effect of Combustion Products of Gas Heating on Flue Piping and Chimneys, to be carried on by the Engineering Experiment Station. The agreement is drawn for a period of one year beginning July 1, 1929, and the Utilities Research Commission agrees to pay $7,500 in quarterly installments to cover the expenses of this investigation. The agreement is of the form and character of similar agreements hitherto approved by the Board and since it was desired to begin work July 1, I authorized the Comptroller and Secretary to execute it for the University. O n m o t i o n of D r . N o b l e , this action w a s confirmed.
