O n motion of Dr. Noble, this report w a s received for record, and the special committee on landscaping w a s discharged. O n motion of M r . Fisher, the Board voted to extend to M r . Vitale an expression of its appreciation of the valuable report presented by M r . Vitale. O n motion of Dr. Noble, the President of the Board w a s requested to appoint a committee of three m e m b e r s of the Board, to consider the campus planting, to work as a sub-committee of the Committee on Buildings and Grounds. President Armstrong later appointed M r . Trees, Chairman, M r s . Grigsby, and M r . Fisher. O n motion of M r . Trees, M r . Vitale's report was referred to this sub-committee for further study and report. APPROPRIATION F O R BUILDING STUDIES (30) On request of the Supervising Architect I recommend that an appropriation of $5,000 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund as a revolving fund for expense of working drawings for new buildings, in the Supervising Architect's Office. O n motion of Dr. Noble, this appropriation w a s made, by the following vote: Aye, President Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r . Fisher, M r s . Grigsby, Dr. Noble, M r . Trees; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, M r . E m m e r s o n , M r . Simpson.

EXPERIMENTAL SPRAYI NG OF PEACH ORCHARDS

(31) A request for authority to approve proposed contracts with Mr. C. J. Thomas, of Carbondale, and Mr. F. L. Graves, of Villa Ridge, connected with an experiment in spraying peach orchards by the Department of Horticulture, when satisfied that the proposed contracts sufficiently protect the University, and are duly approved by the Legal Counsel. O n motion of M r s . Grigsby, this authority w a s granted. APPROPRIATION F O R 1 NSECTARY (32) On request of Professor C. L. Metcalf, Head of the Department of Entomology, endorsed by Dean Babcock and Professor White, I recommend that an appropriation of $1,200, or so much thereof as may be necessary, be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the erection of a small insectary adjoining the Entomology Building. The insectary is needed for the following purposes: (a) To permit the Department to rear insects for study and for use in the classroom. (b) To keep a variety of insects alive on growing plants and in soil, and aquatic insects in water during the entire year. (c) The room will be used by every member of the staff and by graduate students in connection with their research problems. O n motion of D r . B O A R D O F TRUSTEES APPROPRIATION The President of the Board reported that he had authorized a detailed audit of the University accounts for the quarter ending March 31, 1929, after consultation with the members of the Executive Committee. O n recommendation of the Comptroller, approved by the President of the University, and on motion of Mrs. Grigsby, $1,300 was appropriated to Board of Trustees expense, from the Reserve and
