A RESOLUTION

W H E R E A S on July 14, 1927, the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois authorized the execution of a contract for the sale of property in Normal, Illinois, bequeathed to the Board of Trustees by the will of Joseph Carter and Jane Pennell Carter, and described as follows: "lots eleven (11) and twelve (12) in block two (2) in Fell Park Place Addition to the Town of Normal known as No. 609 South Fell Avenue, in the County of McLean and State of Illinois," And W H E R E A S i has been necessary to secure a court decree cont struing the will and authorizing the Board of Trustees to sell the said property, which decree has now been secured. Now, T H E R E F O R E , be i resolved by the Board of Trustees of the t University of Illinois that the President and the Secretary of this Board are hereby authorized and directed to execute in the name of this Board a proper deed for the above described property conveying the same to George M. Palmer; and the Comptroller is hereby authorized to deliver said deed on the payment by the said George M . Palmer of all amounts due under the contract for the sale of the said property to him. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this resolution was adopted, by the following vote: A y e , M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, Mrs. Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Ickes; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, Dr. Noble, M r . Small, M r . Trees, M r . W a r d . HIGHWAY THROUGH CARTER-PENNELL FARM (21) A statement concerning a request for the dedication of a strip of land through the Carter-Pennell farm at Rankin as a part of the extension of Route 49. Action on this matter was deferred. APPOINTMENT OF MR. G. H. SMITH (22) O n recommendation of Dean T. A. Clark, I recommend that Mr. George Herbert Smith, of Marion, Indiana, at present a student in the Graduate School, be appointed Assistant Dean of Men for Freshmen and Foreign Students, at a salary of $2,000, for one year beginning September 1, 1928. O n motion of Mrs. Busey, this appointment was made. CONVEYANCE OF STRIP OF LAND TO CITY OF CHAMPAIGN FOR STREET PURPOSES (23) Pursuant to the resolution adopted by the Board of Trustees on July 14, 1927 (page 402), and on recommendation of Professor White, I recommend that the President and Secretary of the Board be authorized and directed to execute a proper deed conveying the land referred to in said resolution to the City of Champaign for street purposes, when the way is open for the conveyance of this land by the University; that is, as soon as the title to all the land herewith to be conveyed is vested in the University. O n motion of M r . Trees, this recommendation was adopted, by the following vote: Aye, M r . Armstrong, M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, Mrs. Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Ickes, M r . Trees, M r . W a r d ; no, none; absent, M r . Blair, Dr. Noble, M r . Small. MODIFICATION OF GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS IN FOREIGN C O M M E R C E CURRICULUM (24) The Council of Administration, acting for the University Senate, has approved a recommendation from the Faculty of the College of Commerce
