INSURANCE O N UNIVERSITY BUILDINGS Mr. Barr reported, for the Committee on Buildings and Grounds, that the Committee did not care to recommend any change in the policy concerning the insurance of University buildings at Urbana. FIRE EXITS IN CHICAGO BUILDINGS O n motion of Dr. Noble, the matter of bridges and fire exits between the Medical and Dental buildings and the West Side Hospital was referred to the Committee on Chicago Departments for consideration and report. LANDSCAPING O F THE C A M P U S The matter of the landscaping of the campus was discussed at some length. O n motion of Dr. Noble, the special committee on Landscaping the Campus was requested to study further the question of the landscaping of the campus in consultation with Mr. Piatt and our own University experts, and to report to the Board, with specific advice on the following points: 1. Shall we put the main charge of the planning of the landscaping of the campus in the hands of our local experts, employing an outside adviser? 2. If so, what outsider does the committee advise, and on what terms ? 3. What general part of the work specifically does the committee advise should be undertaken now? 4. H o w much money should be appropriated for this purpose? DATE OF OCTOBER MEETING It was voted to hold the October meeting at 9 o'clock a. m. on Wednesday, October 12, 1927, at the Blackstone Hotel, in Chicago. APPOINTMENTS M A D E BY THE PRESIDENT The Secretary presented for record a l s of appointments made by it the President of the University. Armstrong, John R., Assistant in Mechanical Engineering, for ten months beginning September I, 1927, at a cash compensation of one thousand eight hundred dollars ($1800). (September 3, 1927)1 Badger, A. E., Research Graduate Assistant in Ageing of Porcelain Investigation, for ten months beginning September I, 1927, at a cash compensation of six hundred dollars (#600). (September 3, 1927) Ball, F. D., Assistant to the Publicity Director, for one year beginning September I, 1927, at a cash compensation of one thousand eight hundred dollars ($1800). (August 23, 1927) Ball, F. D., Assistant in Journalism, on one-third time, for ten months beginning September I, 1927, at a cash compensation of seven hundred dollars (S700) (in addition to your appointment as Assistant Director of Publicity).
