2l8 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [March 8 TELEGRAM T O SENATOR DENEEN O n motion of Mr. Blair, the Secretary was instructed to wire to Senator C. S. Deneen an expression of the appreciation of the. Board for his action in securing the appointment of Mr. Fred L. W h a m , a member of this Board, as Judge of the Federal Court for the Eastern District of Illinois. ELECTION O F OFFICERS The Secretary called for nominations as chairman of the meeting for the election of officers. O n motion of Mrs. Evans, M r . Blair was elected chairman. MR. MERLE J. TREES ELECTED PRESIDENT O n motion of Dr. Noble, Mr. Merle J. Trees was nominated as President of the Board for one year, the nominations were closed, and the Secretary cast the unanimous vote of the Board for Mr. Trees, and he was declared elected and took the chair. MR. HARRISON E. C U N N I N G H A M ELECTED SECRETARY On motion of Mrs. Grigs by, Mr. Harrison E. Cunningham was elected Secretary of the Board for one year. MR. A. M. B U R K E ELECTED TREASURER Mrs. Busey nominated Mr. A. M . Burke of Champaign as Treasurer of the University for two years. This nomination was seconded by Mr. Blair. On motion of Mrs. Grigsby, the nominations were closed and the Secretary cast the unanimous vote of the Board for Mr. Burke, and he was declared elected Treasurer. PROFESSOR LLOYD M O R E Y ELECTED COMPTROLLER Mrs. Evans nominated Professor Lloyd Morey as Comptroller of the University for one year. On motion of Mr. Barr, the nominations were closed and the Secretary cast the unanimous vote of the Board for Mr. Morey, and he was declared elected Comptroller. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTED Mrs. Evans nominated Dr. Noble and Mrs. Busey as members of the Executive Committee (with the President of the Board as chairman) for one year. O n motion of Mr. Barr, the nominations were closed and the Secretary cast the unanimous vote of the Board for Dr. Noble and Mrs. Busey, and they were declared elected members of the Executive Committee. PRESIDENT KINLEY RE-ELECTED Mr. Blair nominated Dr. David Kinley for the office of President of the University for two years.
