GIFT FROM THE CALUMET BAKING POWDER COMPANY (22) The Calumet Baking Powder Company has offered a fellowship of $1000 to the Department of Chemistry for research work on the physiological effects of tartrates. I recommend that this offer be accepted subject to the usual regulations governing gifts. O n motion of M r s . Ickes, this gift was accepted. APPROPRIATION FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES O N W E S T RESIDENCE HALL (23) On request of the Supervising Architect, I recommend that an app of $2,250 be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund to pay the balance due Mr. Charles A. Piatt f r architectural s r i e on the West Residence Hall. o evcs O n motion of Dr. Noble, this appropriation was made from the Woman's Residence Hall Reserve fund, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Busey, Mrs. Evans, Mrs. Grigsby, Mrs. Ickes, Mr. Noble, Mr. Trees, Mr. W h a m ; no, none; absent, Mr. Blair, Mr. Small. SENIOR COLLEGE DEAN TO ACT FOR PRESIDENT On motion of Mr. Barr, it was voted that in the absence from duty of the President of the University and of the Provost, the senior college dean shall act as President in the interim or until the next meeting of the Board. MESSAGE TO PRESIDENT KINLEY On motion of Mrs. Grigsby, the President of the Board was requested to communicate the good wishes of the Board to President Kinley. LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR]PRESIDENT KINLEY On motion of Mrs. Busey, leave of absence for four months from October 11, 1926, was granted President Kinley on account of illness. At this point, Mrs. Ickes and Dr. Noble withdrew.
