APPROPRIATION FOR DENTAL. BUILDING (18) On recommendation of the Supervising Architect I recommend that an appropriation of $20,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary be made from the Reserve and Contingent Fund for the expense of repairs on the College of Dentistry Building, this amount to be restored to the Fund when the insurance money is received. O n motion of M r s . Evans, this appropriation was m a d e from the Reserve and Contingent fund, by the following vote: A y e , M r . Barr, M r s . Busey, M r s . Evans, M r s . Grigsby, M r s . Mr. Small. Dean Davis and Dean Noyes were introduced at this point. ART AND PHOTOGRAPHIC WORK IN THE COLLEGES OF MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY

(19) I recommend, on recommendation of Dean Davis, that the work in art and photography in the Colleges of Medicine and Dentistry be centralized and attached to the College of Medicine. H e recommends the following changes. 1. That the various items in the Medical and Dental budgets relating to the art and photographic work, and totaling $9,400, be transferred to the College of Medicine, and be assigned to "Medical Administration." a. That T o m Jones, now Artist and Instructor in Anatomy at $1500 on onehalf time, be made Chief Artist and Associate in Medical Illustration on twothirds time at $4,000. 3. That Mary Louise Dixon, now artist on one-half time for ten months at $8oo, be made Artist on one-half time for twelve months at $1200. 4. That a fee of $25 a semester for persons taking only the one course in Medical Illustrating be authorized. During the presentation of this matter, M r . Armstrong took his place with the Board. D e a n Davis m a d e a statement concerning this reorganization. O n separate motions by Dr. Noble, the four recommendations above were approved. GIFTS TO THE COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING (20) Acting for the President, under the authority given him by the Board, I have authorized the Dean of the College of Engineering to accept the following gifts: 1. A steel treating furnace, valued at $350, which the Peoples Gas, Light & Coke Company, of Chicago, has offered to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. 1. A i-% C. A. Spur Gear Speed reducer, valued at $135, which has been offered by the Albaugh-Dover Manufacturing Company, to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This report was received for record.
